29 pedals on Tonebox

Guyatone was a Japanese effects pedal maker, best known among players for its line of compact micro pedals. In the United States its pedals were distributed by Godlyke Distributing, the company also known for bringing Maxon pedals to the US market. Guyatone is no longer an active maker, as Godlyke states directly123:

Because the company is closed, there is no factory warranty, no current production and no official service channel for Guyatone pedals. What remains on the market is leftover retailer stock, often sold as B-stock, and the secondhand market8910.

Guyatone went out of business

Godlyke Distributing, which sold Guyatone pedals in the US, states that Guyatone went out of business in 20134. That makes Guyatone one of the earlier casualties of the boutique pedal boom's shakeout, and it means every Guyatone pedal a player encounters today was built before then.

Godlyke itself is still active as a distributor, and is better known for handling the Maxon line in the US, including the Maxon Vintage series11. Its relationship with Guyatone ended when the Japanese maker closed.

Guyatone pedals found new at retailers today are remaining inventory, frequently B-stock units. Godlyke's listing for the VT-X Flip Tremolo, for example, describes a B-stock pedal in excellent condition, tested and working, with the box included, and it is sold out9.

Pedals Guyatone made

Guyatone's catalog ran across most of the effect types a pedalboard uses. The pedals below are the ones documented in this site's product pages and reference listings.

Beyond these, the brand's product pages on this site cover its overdrives, including the OD-2+ Overdrive, OD-X Overdrive and ODm5 Overdrive, plus delays such as the MDm5 Micro Delay and MD2 Micro Digital Delay, bass effects like the BE-2 Bass Equalizer and BB-2 Bottom Blaster, and filter and wah pedals including the WR-3 Wah Rocker and FB-X Funky Box131415.

The TZ-2 The Fuzz is a good example of where Guyatone sat in the market: RockBoard's PedalPedia describes it as "a retro-style fuzz effect based on the vintage Univox Superfuzz"7, a circuit with a long history in fuzz pedals. The FL-3 Flanger, likewise, is an analog design built around the Panasonic MN3207 delay chip, the same family of BBD (bucket brigade device) chips used in many classic analog flanger and chorus pedals5.

Warranty and service

Guyatone went out of business in 2013, and Godlyke is no longer the distributor for Guyatone products. For warranty information and service, the documented route is to contact DeMont Guitars. Beyond that, no other service program or authorized repair channel for its pedals is documented, so independent pedal technicians and DIY repair remain practical routes for owners who need repair48.

For remaining new-old-stock units sold by retailers, the retailer's own terms apply. Godlyke's B-stock listings describe the condition of each unit directly, such as the VT-X Flip Tremolo listed as tested and working with its box included9.

Questions

Is Guyatone still making pedals?

No. Guyatone went out of business in 2013, according to Godlyke Distributing, the company that handled its pedals in the US. New units only appear when a retailer sells off remaining or B-stock inventory, so most Guyatone pedals today are bought secondhand.

Who distributes Guyatone in the US?

Godlyke Distributing handled Guyatone pedals in the US before the company went out of business in 2013. Godlyke is better known for distributing Maxon pedals in the US, a relationship it has held since 2008. There is no current US distributor of new Guyatone production.
