clean boost
A clean boost is a pedal that raises signal level while adding as little extra compression or distortion as possible1. By maintaining the character of the original tone, it can push the front end of an amplifier for a louder and cleaner sound2. These boosts can raise signal levels to the realms of high-output humbuckers without any resulting loss of dynamic response or clarity3. Any EQ controls work with a flat, neat palette rather than shaping extra character1. Popular examples include the Durham Sex Drive, Keeley Katana, Z Vex Super Hard On and Fulltone Fat Boost3.
