control change
Control change is a type of MIDI message, abbreviated CC, that tells a pedal to do something specific, such as turning a delay's mix or feedback up or down1. In a rig, it lets guitar pedals be controlled or switched remotely, alongside Program Change messages2. Pedals such as the Strymon El Capistan V2 execute MIDI Control Change commands, MIDI clock sync, and access to 300 preset locations3. Expression pedals can send Control Change messages over MIDI, and modules can convert an expression pedal's analog value into Control Change commands45. Some controllers transmit multiple Control Change messages on an appointed MIDI channel6.
