high-pass filter
A high-pass filter is a filter that lets frequencies higher than a cutoff frequency pass, allowing the high-end frequencies to pass through12. In a rig it matters as a tone-shaping or cleanup tool: the Source Audio ZIO uses a natural-sounding high pass filter to reduce low frequency rumble3, and the EBS MultiDrive leaves low frequencies untouched for a powerful sound thanks to its high-pass filter4. It also appears as a selectable mode on pedals such as the Mu-Tron III, whose Mode switch offers low-pass, band-pass, and high-pass settings5, and as a circuit element, as in the Klon Centaur's treble control, an active high-pass filter that boosts or cuts frequencies above 400Hz6.
