reverse delay
Reverse delay is a delay effect in which the repeats are played backward, creating a swelling, reversed-sounding echo character1. It works by reading the delay memory backward, producing a unique delay repeat character, and some designs let repeats stay always reversed or follow an analog reverse feedback system1. It appears as a mode or effect type on pedals such as the Danelectro Back Talk, the Source Audio Collider, and the Old Blood Noise Endeavors BL-44 Reverse234. Sources describe its sound as tape-like, smooth, or psychedelic, and it is often used in ambient settings, sometimes paired with reverb567.
