XLR

In a guitar rig, a balanced XLR output lets a pedal or preamp send its signal straight into an interface, mixer, recorder, or PA system12. XLR connections also appear as inputs, such as the XLR mic inputs on the Line 6 DL4 MkII and the Boss VO-1 Vocoder34. XLR outputs on units like the Darkglass B7K Ultra V2 and Tech 21 SH-1 SansAmp may include ground lift and switchable cabinet simulation56. Some units, like the Aphex 320A Compellor, have balanced XLR inputs and outputs only and will not work with a guitar or bass plugged straight in7.
