AMT S2

The AMT S2 is a preamp and effects pedal from AMT Electronics, a maker with a long line of preamp pedals including the AMT S1, AMT D2, AMT C2, AMT B2, AMT E2, AMT M2, AMT K2, AMT O2 and AMT R2. AMT lists the S2 as available now¹.

What it does

The S2's headline feature is a parametric pre and post EQ, meaning the tone shaping can sit before or after the pedal's preamp stage³. A parametric EQ lets a player dial in a chosen frequency, adjust how wide a band around it is affected, and cut or boost it, which is a more precise tool than the fixed tone knobs on most pedals.

The pedal also carries a noise gate as a global setting, so gating applies across the unit rather than being set per preset². For players running high-gain preamp tones, a gate tames the hum and hiss that distortion stages bring with them.

Bypass options

One detail sets the S2 apart from a straightforward preamp: when bypassed, it can offer optional clean level and clean boost controls. AMT notes this works only with the CAB SIM OUT and PREAMP OUT connections¹. In practice, that means the pedal can double as a clean boost or level control in a rig that uses those outputs, rather than going fully silent when bypassed.

Where it sits in AMT's range

The S2 is listed by AMT Electronics as a preamp and effects pedal, and it is available now²³. Its preamp and effects feature set includes a Noise Gate as a global setting, which shapes how the pedal behaves across all of its sounds rather than on a single preset².
