The Anasounds Dystopia Experimental PT2399 Delay is a mono delay pedal built on the PT2399 delay chip, made by the French builder Anasounds. Guitar Pedal X described it as a "Really cool PT2399 Delay with a more worn-out Tape Sound - Crazy 'Pain' Modulation, and a 4-step sequencer", placing it as the dirtier, more experimental counterpart to the cleaner Utopia delays in the same range1.
Limited edition status
The Dystopia was sold as a limited edition run, available only by pre-order. The pre-order window ran from the 1st to the 17th of December 2023, and Guitar Pedal X noted in its year-end coverage that it was "closed now"1. Players looking for a current Anasounds delay would need to look at the rest of the delay pedal range instead, such as the Utopia Deluxe or the Utopia While Limited MK2.
What it does
The Dystopia takes the PT2399, a common delay chip, and pushes it toward a degraded tape echo character rather than a clean repeat. Alongside the delay itself it carries two features that set it apart1:
- Worn-out tape sound: Guitar Pedal X characterized the voicing as a tape sound more worn out than the standard Utopia treatment1
- Pain modulation: a modulation control Anasounds calls Pain, described by Guitar Pedal X as "Crazy"1
- 4-step sequencer: a built-in sequencer with four steps1
One practical point comes from the same review: the Dystopia is a mono delay, not stereo. Stefan Karlsson of Guitar Pedal X wrote, "This is a Mono delay - so not really perfect for me", a consideration for players running stereo rigs1.
Price
Guitar Pedal X listed the Dystopia at €349 when it appeared in the site's 2023 time-based effects roundup, published 20 December 20231. That price was given in euros and dates from the pre-order period.

It is a mono delay built on the PT2399 chip. Guitar Pedal X described it as a PT2399 delay with a more worn-out tape sound, a modulation control the maker calls Pain, and a 4-step sequencer, which sets it apart from the cleaner Utopia delays in the same range.
How much did the Dystopia cost?
Guitar Pedal X listed the Dystopia at €349 when it was announced in December 2023. The price was given in euros, and it applied to the limited edition pre-order run.
