The Anasounds Savage & Cerberus ltd edition is a double overdrive pedal: one Savage and one Cerberus built into the same enclosure1. Anasounds describes the pairing simply: the Savage overdrive as a dynamic amp, the Cerberus as a 3 voicing overdrive, and the two together as "killer tone"1. The Savage side is the maker's "transparent overdrive inspired by the klon centaur"1, the overdrive originally built by Klon LLC2, whose first version came in golden and silver versions3.
It is a limited run by design. Anasounds decided "to manufacture only 50 pieces that are registered, after that it's over"11.
Two overdrives in one enclosure
The idea is straightforward: instead of two pedals on a board, you get both circuits in one box. The Savage covers the transparent, dynamic amp-style end of the pairing, while the Cerberus offers 3 voicing, which Anasounds says is "enough to play easily different styles of compression with plenties of guitars"1. Anasounds lists the pedal under both distortion and overdrive categories1, and if you want either circuit on its own, the maker also sells them separately as the Savage and Cerberus, alongside related models like the Cerberus Custom Overdrive, the Extended Savage and the dual-overdrive Sandman.
Controls and switching
Anasounds lists the external controls as bass cut, chain invert switch, gain, out, and tone1.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Gain | Sets the drive level |
| Tone | Shapes the treble response |
| Out | Sets the output level |
| Bass cut | Trims low end |
| Chain invert switch | A small switch that inverts the 2 pedals in the signal chain1 |
Two switching features stand out. First, the chain invert switch lets you reorder the Savage and Cerberus in the signal chain at will, so you can hear which pedal feeding which suits your rig1. Second, the Savage carries "a switch to jump from a silicon to a germanium clipping"1, giving two clipping characters from the same circuit.
Both pedals are true bypass with relay switching and soft click footswitches, and a bumper buffer sits before both pedals "to be ready for stage"1. The 9V supply is duplicated, separated and filtered to power the whole system and prevent noise1.
