The Audiostorm Tone Lord MK2 is a clean boost and tone-enhancer, released in 2025, aimed at correcting the sound of other pedals. Guitar Pedal X's reviewer Stefan Karlsson described it as "a clean boost and tone-enhancer/fixer for correcting pedals' sound"1. It sits in the family of boost pedals, but its reviewer saw it doing something more specific than simple level.
What it does
The pedal's core job is tonal correction. Karlsson, reviewing it for Guitar Pedal X in July 2025, settled on a clear verdict on where it belongs on a board1:
"So I've very much decided that the principal application for this circuit is as a fixer and tone-enhancer."
In other words, rather than replacing an overdrive pedal or distortion pedal, the Tone Lord MK2 is placed to add what those pedals are missing, in what Karlsson called the most surgically precise way1.
Controls and modes
The Tone Boost control is the pedal's core output level control1. The Gain Boost control behaves differently: it reaches overdrive levels from around 3 o'clock onwards, and Karlsson described it as a fantastic sounding overdrive when Gain Boost is maxed1. That puts the pedal within reach of players who normally reach for a dedicated overdrive pedal for pushing a front end.
The pedal also has a Tone Era mode selector, in which OFF is bypassed1.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Tone Boost | The core output level control1 |
| Gain Boost | Reaches overdrive levels from circa 3 o'clock onwards; overdrive when maxed1 |
| Tone Era mode | OFF is bypassed1 |
Power
The Tone Lord MK2 runs from 9V to 18V DC, and higher voltages increase its clean headroom1. For a clean boost, headroom matters: running at 18V gives the circuit more room before the signal clips, which suits players using it as a transparent fixer rather than a source of dirt.
The price is given as £199 RRP in GBP as stated by the source; no US dollar price is given.
