The Behringer BO100 Blues Overdrive is an overdrive pedal, sold at a very low price: MusicRadar's review put it at £15 GBP1. It is one of Behringer's compact overdrive pedals, sitting alongside the TO100 Tube Overdrive, the TO800 Vintage Tube Overdrive and the Vintage Tube Overdrive in the maker's range.
What it does
The BO100 gives a player two main controls, gain and tone, and the reviewer found both covered a wide range. At low gain settings, MusicRadar's Chris Vinnicombe wrote that "blues-rock riffing and 'woman' tone lead lines are catered for amply"1. Push the gain higher and the pedal changes character: "Rev the gain right up - and there's a surprising amount on tap - and back the tone off, and with the guitar's neck pickup" the reviewer described a "huge neo-fuzz tone"1. That puts its upper reaches closer to what players look for from fuzz pedals than a typical overdrive.
What reviewers said
MusicRadar's verdict was strongly positive for the price. The reviewer concluded: "Surprisingly good and a bargain at the price. Behringer looks poised to clean up."1
The review also noted how quickly any scepticism about the price point fell away: "Any cynicism held towards a £15 overdrive pedal is rendered utterly redundant after five minutes with the BO100."1
