The Bleak District Electric Miraj 4-Stage Vibe V2 is a four-stage optical phaser and Uni-Vibe style vibe pedal in one enclosure. At its heart is a four-stage optical phase shifter with an all analog signal path and an LED/LDR mechanism similar to the fabled Uni-Vibe, and it borrows design elements from both the Uni-Vibe and the Phase 90 so it can shift between those well known tones1. The Uni-Vibe itself was the first phaser pedal, forever associated with Jimi, as Premier Guitar puts it2.
A phaser and Uni-Vibe in one pedal
The original Miraj had a very specific brief: to deliver the best of the Phase 90 and the Uni-Vibe in the same circuit and enclosure1. The V2 keeps that idea and builds on it. A Phaser/Vibrato Switch selects the core effect, giving you phaser or vibrato modes like the classic Uni-Vibe1. Guitar Pedal X describes the range this way:
"Whether you swirl or throb, or self oscillate in a frantic to-ing and fro-ing of phase shift annihilation? The Miraj has you covered."
If you are new to phasers, the effect works by splitting your signal and shifting the phase of part of it, then blending it back to create sweeping peaks and notches. A four-stage design like this one, and the related phaser pedals it sits alongside, gives the classic sweeping character, while the vibrato mode leans toward the swirling Uni-Vibe sound.
The controls
The V2 edition moves on significantly from the V1, going from 7 to 10 controls1. The V1 layout consisted of Regen, Rate, Volume, Depth, a Univibe/Phase 90 Switch, a Phaser/Vibrato Switch, Waveshape, and On/Off and Tap Tempo footswitches1. The V2 adds envelope, expression and feedback control on top of that foundation.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Envelope knob | Sets the envelope response1 |
| Envelope Switch | Selects Depth / Off / Rate1 |
| Rate | Sets the modulation speed1 |
| EXP Switch | Selects Rate / Off / Depth for expression pedal control1 |
| Depth | Sets modulation intensity1 |
| Regen / Feedback | Sets feedback amount1 |
| Phaser/Vibrato Switch | Selects the core effect1 |
| Manual On Switch | Engages manual mode1 |
| On/Off Footswitch | Bypass and engage1 |
| Tap Tempo Footswitch | Sets the modulation speed in time1 |
Manual, envelope and expression
Three of the V2's additions give the pedal unusual range for a vibe-style pedal1:
- Manual mode: a unique manual mode gives you a range of interesting static phase tones, or allows you to control the phase shifting by other means1.
- Envelope: full envelope control of rate or depth, using the input signal to control the rate or depth of the LFO1. Guitar Pedal X's verdict on this feature was strong: "The Envelope itself is superb - how you can vary the Rate or Depth via your playing style and pick-attack - I have a cou..."1, describing a lively and organic, almost sentient-like effect envelope response1.
- Expression: the EXP Switch selects whether an expression pedal controls Rate or Depth, with an Off position between them1. Players who use expression pedals can therefore sweep the effect by foot.
V1 compared to V2
| Miraj V1 | Miraj V2 | |
|---|---|---|
| Controls | 71 | 101 |
| Shared controls | Regen, Rate, Volume, Depth, Univibe/Phase 90 Switch, Phaser/Vibrato Switch, Waveshape1 | Envelope, Rate, Depth, Regen/Feedback, Phaser/Vibrato Switch1 |
| Envelope control | Not part of the V1 layout1 | Envelope knob plus Depth / Off / Rate switch1 |
| Expression control | Not part of the V1 layout1 | EXP Switch: Rate / Off / Depth1 |
| Footswitches | On/Off and Tap Tempo1 | On/Off and Tap Tempo1 |
The V2 is the current edition. Guitar Pedal X reported it available right now from the Bleak District Electric webstore and select dealers, and as of 17 August 2026 the price stood at £225, roughly $280 or €2601.
What reviewers said
Guitar Pedal X's coverage is the main published account of the V2. The site framed the update as significant, saying that much like with Phil's recent Tapescape Ambient Delay, Phil has added a load more granularity and versatility into the format1. Its reviewer singled out the envelope response as the standout, calling it superb and describing how playing style and pick-attack can vary the Rate or Depth1.

Questions
Is the Bleak District Electric Miraj V2 analog?
Yes. Guitar Pedal X describes the Miraj as a four-stage optical phase shifter with an all analog signal path, using a similar LED/LDR mechanism to the Uni-Vibe. The low-frequency oscillator that drives the effect is digitally controlled, but the audio passing through the pedal stays analog throughout.
Does the Miraj 4-Stage Vibe V2 have tap tempo?
Yes. The pedal carries two footswitches: an On/Off footswitch and a Tap Tempo footswitch. Tap tempo was already part of the V1 layout and carries over to the V2, so you can set the modulation speed in time with your playing rather than turning the Rate knob by ear.
Can you use an expression pedal with the Miraj V2?
Yes. An EXP Switch on the pedal selects Rate, Off or Depth, which sets what an connected expression pedal controls. With it you can sweep the modulation speed or the intensity of the phase shifting by foot while you play.
What does the Envelope control do on the Miraj V2?
The Envelope knob works with an Envelope Switch that selects Depth, Off or Rate. It lets the input signal, meaning your playing style and pick attack, control the rate or depth of the LFO. Guitar Pedal X called the envelope response lively and organic, almost sentient-like.
Who designed the Bleak District Electric Miraj?
The Miraj comes from Phil of Bleak District Electric. Guitar Pedal X notes that, much like with his recent Tapescape Ambient Delay, Phil added a load more granularity and versatility to the format in the V2 edition.
How much does the Miraj 4-Stage Vibe V2 cost?
As of 17 August 2026, the price was £225, roughly $280 or €260, from the Bleak District Electric webstore and select dealers.
