The Blue FX Devices Piluxx is a one-knob fuzz pedal from Blue FX Devices. Guitar Pedal X described it as "a fantastic, unique and really quite mighty fuzz - with a tonne of gain and volume!", and found that it delivers "an absolute killer richly-textured output. It sounds fantastic up against anything - and has a wonderful character, sear and saturation"12. Alongside the main knob, the pedal carries an Output / Level trim-pot to the right of the main knob, which you can access externally by using a small screwdriver, and which the reviewer found quite sensitive1.
How it works
The Piluxx is essentially a one-knob fuzz with a mode switch hidden in the footswitch. A short press of the footswitch turns the Core Fuzz on and off, while a press-and-hold engages or disables the Frequency mode, which Guitar Pedal X also refers to as an Oscillation mode.1 The central Fuzz/Frequency knob accesses the Core and 4th Frequency modes.2
Two LEDs, carried over from the switch hardware itself, show what is happening: the red 250V LED indicates the Core Fuzz is on, and the blue 10A LED indicates Frequency mode is on.1
Besides the main knob there is an Output/Level trim-pot to its right, accessed externally with a small screwdriver, which the reviewer found quite sensitive.1
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Central Fuzz/Frequency knob | Accesses the Core and 4th Frequency modes2 |
| Footswitch, short press | Switches the Core Fuzz on and off1 |
| Footswitch, press and hold | Engages and disables Frequency / Oscillation mode2 |
| Output/Level trim-pot | External level trim, adjusted with a small screwdriver1 |
| Red 250V LED | Indicates Core Fuzz on1 |
| Blue 10A LED | Indicates Frequency mode on1 |
Where it came from
The enclosure is the story as much as the circuit. Archie came across vintage 1970s Pilux electrical switches while browsing an antiques store in Athens, and the pedals are built into those green circular housings.1 The circuit uses SMT transistors, and Guitar Pedal X credits the design to Archie and Phil, saying they "get incredible results from those tiny SMT transistors."1
The pedal exists in two batches: 9 green units made for Leeds and 5 silver gray units for Brighton. The reviewer's own green edition, bought just after the Leeds Pedal Show, is numbered #9 of 9.1
Both batches of the Piluxx are sold out. Guitar Pedal X reported that a future batch is possible only if more of the vintage Pilux switches can be found.1
Piluxx versus the Fuzz Fields
The Piluxx is a deliberate distillation of Fuzz Fields, Blue FX's flagship pedal, keeping the Core and 4th Frequency modes and dropping the rest: the Phaser and Gravity modes are omitted.1 Both pedals are mode-switching fuzzes in green circular enclosures, but the Piluxx is around the same diameter as a typical compact pedal enclosure.2
What reviewers said
Guitar Pedal X's Stefan Karlsson reviewed the Piluxx in July 2026 and again in an August 2026 comparison with the Talisman Audio GP7. His verdict on the sound:
"A fantastic, unique and really quite mighty fuzz - with a tonne of gain and volume!"2
On the Core Fuzz output itself, he wrote that it has "an absolute killer richly-textured output. It sounds fantastic up against anything - and has a wonderful character, sear and saturation."1 On build and output, he concluded: "The execution of this device is flawless - and there's few one-knob Fuzzes quite so satisfying as this."1
He also flagged one practical point for players who want to switch modes mid-song: the Frequency mode "requires some delicacy on the dial in," particularly for flipping modes on the fly, and he found a setting a little to the left of center on the master control worked well for both modes.2
Questions
What is the Blue FX Devices Piluxx?
The Piluxx is a mode-switching fuzz pedal from Blue FX Devices, built inside a repurposed 1970s Greek Pilux electrical switch enclosure that the maker found in an Athens antiques shop. It is a two-mode reduction of Blue FX's flagship Fuzz Fields pedal, carrying the Core Fuzz and 4th Frequency modes, controlled by a single central knob and the footswitch.
How do you switch between Core Fuzz and Frequency mode on the Piluxx?
A short press of the footswitch turns the Core Fuzz on and off, while pressing and holding the footswitch engages or disables the Frequency mode, which Guitar Pedal X also describes as an Oscillation mode. The blue 10A LED shows Frequency mode is on, and the red 250V LED shows the Core Fuzz is on.
What does the Piluxx cost?
The Piluxx Fuzzes were priced at €185, which Guitar Pedal X gave as circa $210 or £160 at the time of its July 2026 review. Both batches sold out at that price.
Is the Piluxx still available?
No. As of the July 2026 Guitar Pedal X review, both batches had sold out. The reviewer noted that future batches are possible only if the maker, Archie, manages to find more of the vintage Pilux switches the pedals are housed in.
How does the Piluxx differ from the Fuzz Fields pedal?
The Piluxx is a two-mode reduction of the Fuzz Fields, keeping only the Core Fuzz and 4th Frequency modes. The Fuzz Fields' Phaser and Gravity modes are omitted. Both are mode-switching fuzzes in green circular enclosures, but the Piluxx is around the same diameter as a typical compact pedal enclosure.
What do the red and blue LEDs on the Piluxx mean?
The red 250V LED indicates that the Core Fuzz is on, and the blue 10A LED indicates that Frequency mode is on. The LED labels come from the original electrical switch hardware the pedal is housed in.
