The Blue FX Devices Fuzz Fields is a dynamic modulated fuzz pedal built in Denmark and designed by Archie12. It is an all-analog design combining JFET-based clipping with a synth-style filter section, and it runs four modes of operation that you can switch up and down and combine on the fly using its two footswitches32. Guitar.com's Richard Purvis noted that it is billed as "the ultimate modulated fuzz," and you can see why2.

The core fuzz circuit is a kind of three-transistor silicon fuzz: a single transistor handles input gain, then a BC108 feeds a JFET for the main gain section1. At launch it was announced as two silicon transistor stages into a MOSFET topology4. The pedal was funded through Kickstarter, announced on April 16, 2025 with the campaign launching on May 7, 20254.

A modulated fuzz with four modes

The Fuzz Fields offers four "gears" of playback that you move between with the footswitches5:

  • Core Fuzz: the base silicon fuzz tone3
  • + Phaser: phaser-fuzz, adding modulation to the fuzz35
  • Gravity: input gain plus a feedback loop5
  • Frequency: an oscillator mode tuned by the Fuzz Frequency control54

The left footswitch is a multi-function punch-in switch: a double press switches mode, and it engages Gravity, +Frequency and Hold modes14. Guitar Pedal X's Stefan Karlsson described the result as a fuzz with sophisticated layers and waves of textures and tones1.

The modulation side has a Phaser / Vibrato toggle, so the modulation engine can run as either effect4. The filter section is synth-style, with a Filter control that sweeps between low-pass and high-pass, plus a 1kHz notch switch for the filter25.

Controls

ControlWhat it does
Level / OutputSets the output volume54
Fuzz / Gain / FrequencyGain, and in Frequency mode an oscillation tuner54
FilterSweeps between LPF and HPF5
1kHz Notch SwitchAdds a notch to the filter5
GateNoise gate for the fuzz5
Gain Structure High / LowChooses high or low gain structure15
Phaser / Vibrato SwitchSelects the modulation type4
SenseEnvelope sensitivity54

The four internal dip switches are labeled Smooth, +Sense, +Time and Latch, and mostly relate to the SENSE and Expression functions. The fourth defaults to Latching Mode for the left footswitch1.

CV, expression and outputs

The Fuzz Fields is built to sit in a larger control setup, not just on a pedalboard14:

  • TS In and TS Out: standard instrument input and output1
  • Envelope Out: outputs the envelope signal for controlling other gear1
  • 1/8" CV In / LFO In: control voltage input for external modulation4
  • 1/8" CV Out / ENV Out: control voltage output4
  • 1/4" CV / Expression: expression input for the Fazer and Gravity functions14

The CV input also hosts the optional 'It' module, an LFO modulator that plugs straight in2. Guitar Pedal X called the bundle of the Fuzz Fields and 'It' together well priced at €3991.

What reviewers said

Guitar Pedal X's Stefan Karlsson reviewed the Fuzz Fields at length and later summed up his view3:

"The Fuzz Fields is one of my favourite ever fuzzes - it's both utterly unique, and incredibly versatile"3

Guitar Pedal X also gave the pedal a Silver award in its 2025 best new fuzz pedals of the year roundup5. Guitar.com's review highlighted the JFET clipping and synth-style filter combination, and noted the "ultimate modulated fuzz" billing2.

Fuzz Fields and the Piluxx Fuzz

In July 2026 Blue FX Devices released the Piluxx Fuzz, which shoe-horns the core of the Fuzz Fields into a two-mode pedal housed in a 1970s electrical switch enclosure13. Where the Fuzz Fields gives you all four modes plus the filter, gate, envelope and CV ports, the Piluxx trims the feature set to the core fuzz in a compact, quirky housing3.

One small difference Karlsson noted between the two: the Piluxx uses red and blue mode LEDs to tell its modes apart, while on the Fuzz Fields both mode LEDs were red3.

The White Edition

A limited White Edition of the Fuzz Fields is sold exclusively through Northern Stompboxes in the UK, with a matching White Edition of the 'It' LFO Modulator1. It is a finish variant rather than a different circuit.

Questions

What is the It module for the Fuzz Fields?

It is an optional LFO modulator module that plugs into the Fuzz Fields' CV input, adding an LFO source for modulating the pedal. It is sold separately or bundled with the Fuzz Fields, and a matching White Edition of both units exists as a limited exclusive at Northern Stompboxes in the UK.

What do the dip switches on the Fuzz Fields do?

The four internal dip switches are labeled Smooth, +Sense, +Time and Latch, and mostly relate to the SENSE and Expression functions. The Latch switch defaults to Latching Mode for the left footswitch, which changes how the punch-in modes behave when you press and release it.

What is the Fuzz Fields White Edition?

A limited White Edition of the Fuzz Fields sold exclusively through Northern Stompboxes in the UK, with a matching White Edition of the optional 'It' LFO Modulator. It is the same circuit in a different finish.

Where is Blue FX Devices based?

Blue FX Devices is a Danish builder. The Fuzz Fields is built in Denmark as an all-custom, slightly oversized enclosure, and the pedal was designed by Archie.

What is the difference between Fuzz Fields and Piluxx Fuzz?

The Piluxx Fuzz houses the core of the Fuzz Fields circuit in a two-mode pedal built into a 1970s electrical switch enclosure. The full Fuzz Fields keeps all four modes, the filter, gate, envelope and CV ports, and uses a conventional custom enclosure.
