The Caline CP-77 Bounty Hunter is a high gain distortion pedal. RockBoard's PedalPedia describes it as "our new high gain distortion pedal with plenty of punch," aimed at players who want a heavy, saturated distortion voice in a compact enclosure1. It runs an analog circuit and covers distortion, boost and filter duties in its signal path1.
Controls and modes
The CP-77 keeps its panel simple, with three knobs:
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Volume | Sets the pedal's output level |
| Distortion | Sets the amount of gain |
| Mid | Shapes the midrange |
A 2-way selector switch offers Extreme and Classic modes. RockBoard's PedalPedia describes it as allowing "a subtle variation from the more compressed classic tone to the more" open modern extreme sound, so the switch moves between a tighter, compressed voicing and a more open, modern one1.
Power
The pedal runs on 9V DC with a center negative plug and draws 30mA1. That draw is modest enough for a standard pedalboard power supply, though as with any distortion pedal, a clean isolated supply is the usual choice on a board with other effects.
Where it sits in Caline's range
Caline builds a wide line of dirt pedals, from the lower gain Caline Midlander Overdrive and Caline Head Room Vintage Distortion to heavier designs like the Caline Red Devil, Caline CP-27 White British Distortion and Caline CP-15 Tantrum Heavy Metal. The CP-77 sits at the high gain end of that range, with a mid control and a mode switch as its main shaping tools. For a broader look at the category, see Distortion Pedals1.
