The Caroline Arigato Advance is a limited edition advance run of the company's phaser, announced by Caroline Guitar Company and listed as sold out at the same time. A phaser (short for phase shifter) sweeps notches through a guitar's signal to produce a whooshing, moving tone; Caroline's own description of the circuit is that "Like all of our work, it can go from subtle to wild."1
What it does
The Arigato Advance is the advance version of what became the Caroline Arigato, the phaser Caroline had been asked to build for years. The maker's announcement opens with "For years you've asked us for a phaser," and describes the pedal as capable of everything from subtle to wild, in the company's words.1 For a player, that places it in the phaser family: a modulation effect that sits alongside chorus, flanger and vibrato pedals in what it does to the signal.
Limited edition run and charity
The Advance was a limited edition pedal, sold out as of its announcement on 26 October 2022. Caroline stated that it was donating $30 from the sale of each of these advance limited pedals to the Innocence Project.1
The Advance run was limited and sold out. Caroline said the phaser would "go to wide release in that luxurious coral/peach shade very soon," in an enclosure finished in a coral/peach shade.1
From Advance to wide release
The Advance was a limited edition run and is sold out; Caroline billed it as a preview of a phaser the company had long been asked for, and said the circuit would go to wide release as the Caroline Phaser in a coral/peach shade.1 Caroline also donated $30 from the sale of each advance limited pedal to the Innocence Project.1 Players looking for the production version of the circuit the Advance previewed will find it on the Caroline Phaser page.
