The Caroline Arigato is an analog phaser pedal from Caroline Guitar Company, a South Carolina-based builder1. It is built around a 4-stage OTA phaser circuit, and it covers three modulation voicings in one box: classic 4-stage phase shifting, vibrato, and a uni-vibe style mod setting2. The maker describes its character plainly:
"While capable of the airy psychedelia of classic units, this one is meant to rumble, wobble, shake, rattle, and roar."
Guitar Pedal X's Stefan Karlsson reviewed it as "a beautifully executed multi-modulator" and found all three voicings sound good with every knob at noon2.
A four-stage OTA phaser with vibrato and vibe
The Arigato is an analog pedal, and Caroline Guitar Co. describes it as a 4-Stage Analog OTA Phaser with Vibrato and Vibe2. It delivers three core voicings: Phaser, Vibrato and Uni-Vibe (Mod)2.
The three voicings are selected with the Phase Mode / Vibe Mod switch2:
| Voicing | What it does |
|---|---|
| Phaser | Classic 4-stage phase shifting2 |
| Vibrato | Pitch wobble, with the wet signal taken fully31 |
| Uni-Vibe (Mod) | A vibe-style mod voicing2 |
The Arigato was not Caroline's first phaser. The company also makes the Arigato Advance, a phaser it introduced by saying "For years you've asked us for a phaser"4. Guitar Pedal X first featured the Arigato on the site in January 20232.
The controls and the Havoc footswitch
The control set, as listed in Guitar Pedal X's review2:
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Wet Mix | Blends wet and dry signal; at 100% wetness you get the vibrato effect1 |
| Intensity | Sets the depth of the modulation |
| Phase Mode / Vibe Mod switch | Selects between the phaser, vibrato and vibe voicings2 |
| Triangle / Square Waveform switch | Chooses the shape of the modulating wave2 |
| Feedback | Sets the amount of regenerative feedback |
| Speed | Sets the modulation rate |
The pedal carries two footswitches. The bypass footswitch is momentary or latching depending on how long you press it2. The second is the Havoc footswitch, a momentary switch that takes the speed to its maximum setting1. Guitar Pedal X describes its use as increasing speed "for stabs and flurries"2, quick bursts of fast modulation you can punch in and out mid-phrase.
The Mix knob is the key to the vibrato voicing: it blends wet and dry signal, and at 100% wetness, with no dry signal left, the pedal produces vibrato1. The maker also notes it is capable of going fully wet for interesting vibrato sounds3.
What reviewers said
Guitar Pedal X's Stefan Karlsson first featured the pedal in January 2023 and published a full review in May 20262. His verdict on ease of use and sound:
"All 3 core voicings - Phaser, Vibrato and Uni-Vibe (Mod) sound superb - and the pedal is supremely easy to dial in."
In a June 2026 follow-up on Caroline's modulation lineup, he ranked the Arigato as his favorite of the three Caroline modulation pedals he owns, ahead of the Pawnshop Parabola and the Somersault5.
