The Foo Driver is an analog distortion pedal from Collateral FX, listed on the maker's RockBoard PedalPedia page under the heading "DISTORTION"1. As the name suggests, RockBoard's PedalPedia describes it as a tribute to the Foo Fighters, designed with the sound of Foo Fighters in mind1.
What it does
The pedal is based on the Crowther Hot Cake, which RockBoard's PedalPedia calls "a legendary overdrive that shaped many of the sounds we hear on Foo Fighte"1. RockBoard's PedalPedia describes its sound as "extremely versatile, with a creamy, organic, and very beautiful drive," ranging from rougher sound to more polished and moderate tones1.
A distinctive feature is that the Foo Driver carries several Hot Cake versions in one box: "All of these versions are in our pedal! This is possible thanks to 3 dip switches inside the Foo Driver"1. Those internal DIP switches let a player select between the different Hot Cake versions rather than owning separate pedals for each.
For players comparing it with other drives, it sits in the distortion lane, though the Hot Cake lineage places it close to overdrive territory as well. Collateral FX also makes the Continuum OD1.
On boards
The maker's PedalPedia page shows the Foo Driver on a player's board: The Sauce PT.4, based on CINQUE 5.3 by Paulo Damasceno Nepomuceno, listed about a month before the page's 2026 date1.
