The Cooper FX Outward V2 is a digital sampling pedal from Cooper FX that records your audio and plays it back in different ways depending on the mode: freezing notes, stuttering them, or time stretching them. Delicious Audio lists it as a delay / sampler, so it sits in the delay family while behaving more like a texture and looping tool than a conventional echo box1.
Controls and expression
The V2 added a new PIT|DIR function that sets the balance of dry signal and octave signal. At 12:00 there is no octave effect; turning the knob counter-clockwise blends in a lower octave, and clockwise introduces an upper octave1.
The EXP/CV jack accepts an expression pedal or CV assigned to any of the digital controls: SPD|SNS, SIZE, PIT|DIR and CLOCK. Two limits matter in practice: expression values cannot be saved to a preset, and inserting more than +5V on the jack or using a mono cable voids the warranty1. If you are shopping for a pedal to pair with it, see expression pedals.
MIDI setup
MIDI arrives over a 1/8-inch connection; Disaster Area Designs' support article says to use their MultiJack with an adapter cable2.
The pedal defaults to OMNI, so it responds to every MIDI channel. Set it to a single channel for use, or it will react to MIDI intended for other pedals. The same applies to the Cooper FX Arcades and Generation Loss V22.

Questions
Is the Cooper FX Outward V2 true bypass?
Yes. The Outward V2 uses relay true bypass control, meaning a physical relay switches the pedal out of your signal path when it is off. Delicious Audio's product page for the pedal documents this bypass scheme, so the pedal should not load your signal chain when disengaged.
Is the Cooper FX Outward V2 discontinued?
The Outward V2 is no longer in production. Cooper FX's pedals were folded into Chase Bliss Audio, and in October 2026 Chase Bliss founder Joel Korte wrote that Outward was always the other Cooper pedal the company was most excited about, describing it as a pedal Chase Bliss considered revisiting after Tom Majeski joined. No reissue has been announced.
How do you connect MIDI to the Outward V2?
The Outward V2 receives MIDI over a 1/8-inch connection. Disaster Area Designs' support article for the pedal says to use their MultiJack with an adapter cable to bring MIDI into the pedal. The same guidance applies to the Cooper FX Arcades and Generation Loss V2.
Why does the Outward V2 respond to every MIDI channel?
The pedal ships with its MIDI channel set to OMNI, so it listens to messages on all channels. Disaster Area Designs advises setting it to a single channel for use, which keeps it from reacting to MIDI meant for other pedals on your setup.
Can you use an expression pedal with the Outward V2?
Yes. The EXP/CV jack accepts an expression pedal or CV assigned to any of the digital controls: SPD|SNS, SIZE, PIT|DIR and CLOCK. Expression values cannot be saved to a preset, and inserting more than +5V on the jack or using a mono cable voids the warranty.
