Cornerstone Colosseum Dual Overdrive

The Cornerstone Colosseum is a dual overdrive pedal from Cornerstone Music Gear. It puts two drive circuits in one box, and it is listed at Thomann at $307.00 US, £277.00 or 315.00€¹.

What it does

The Colosseum gives a player two of the most requested overdrive voicings on one pedalboard. The Klon-style side follows the circuit of Bill Finnegan's Centaur, a transparent-ish drive with a big following, and the Blues Breaker-style side follows the Marshall pedal that has become a staple of British-flavored overdrive. gearnews.com's writer included the Colosseum among the Klon-style overdrive pedals he would recommend, in a piece where Finnegan himself took part².

Because the two channels come from different circuit families, the pedal can cover rhythm and boost duties on one side and a pushier drive on the other without needing two separate enclosures or a second power supply.

Where it came from

Cornerstone put the design to a vote. The company polled its followers on which two drive types the pedal should combine, and the answers were a Klon and a Blues Breaker. Delicious Audio's coverage of the release describes the Colosseum as a dual overdrive whose two drive types were chosen that way³. gearnews.com reported that the pedal was "voted into existence by Cornerstone's followers" and is hand built in Italy⁴.

Where it sits in Cornerstone's range

The Colosseum is one of several dual overdrives in the Cornerstone line, each pairing a different combination of circuits:

For players weighing the Colosseum against other Klon-flavored options, the Centurio Dual Overdrive and Centurio Professional Drive are Cornerstone's later takes on the same circuit family, while the Gladio SC and Gladio Double Preamp cover the company's Dumble-style side.
