The Cornerstone Centurio Professional Drive is a dual overdrive pedal made in Italy, built around two Klon-style channels in one box. Each channel has its own independent gain and volume stages, so the pedal can cover two jobs at once: one channel set low for an always-on foundation, the other pushed harder for solos or heavier rhythm parts1.
What it does
The Klon circuit is one of the most copied overdrive designs, and the Centurio takes that approach and doubles it. In Normal mode, De Gregorio describes the pedal as "your always-on foundation. A little grit, a lot of punch." The second, Hot channel carries a bright switch for cutting through a mix1.
Beyond the usual gain and volume per channel, the Centurio adds Tone, Clip and Comp controls. Tone shapes the frequency response. De Gregorio's verdict on these extras1:
"That's three knobs most Klon-style pedals don't have, and they make a real difference."
Using it in a bigger rig
The pedal has an external switching input for loop switchers and MIDI rigs, so its channels can be brought in and out from a master switching system instead of only from the pedal's own switches. For players running a loop switcher or a MIDI controller, that means the Centurio can sit in the rig like any other switchable loop rather than needing to be stomped directly1.
Where it sits in Cornerstone's range
Cornerstone builds several dual-drive pedals in Italy. The Colosseum pairs Klon-style and Blues Breaker-style channels, the Imperium V2 pairs Gladio-style and Antique-style circuits, and the Antique Classic Drive and Gladio Double Preamp cover other combinations. The Centurio is the line's take on two Klon-style channels in one enclosure1. For the wider family, see Overdrive Pedals.
