The Danelectro Fab Echo is a budget delay pedal from Danelectro's FAB line, listed at $29.1
Unlike most delay pedals, it has no delay time knob: it is fixed at slapback delay mode, a very short delay that sits close behind the played note.1 For an overview of how this design fits among delay pedals generally, see Delay Pedals.
The speed knob mod
In its stock form, the Fab Echo is stuck at one speed, slapback. JHS Pedals sells a modification for the pedal: "We install an external speed knob to unlock some interesting sounds that we never dreamed were in this little plastic box."2 With the mod, the delay speed becomes adjustable from the outside of the pedal, turning a fixed slapback unit into a variable short delay.
