The DigiTech RP255 is a guitar multi-effects floor processor and USB recording interface. DigiTech describes it as giving you 94 amps, cabinets, stompboxes, and effects in one unit, intended to "Gig, practice and compose."1

DigiTech lists the RP255 among its past products: "Past products are no longer in production, but may still be available through local and online retailers."1

What it does

The RP255 belongs to DigiTech's RP line of multi-effects pedals, which put amp models, speaker cabinets, stompbox models and effects into a single floor unit instead of a board of individual pedals. DigiTech's product page describes the RP255 as a processor "with sounds so good people will think that your song was recorded in a major studio."1

Its USB recording side is the other half of the design. With USB streaming audio and the bundled Cubase LE4 software, DigiTech says "the RP255 allows you to easily record directly to your computer," so the same unit that shapes your live tone also serves as an interface for recording at home.1

Where it sits in the RP range

DigiTech no longer makes the RP255: the company lists it among its past products, which are no longer in production but may still be available through local and online retailers. DigiTech's own pitch for the RP line was that it offers "sounds so good people will think that your song was recorded in a major studio."1

Questions

Is the DigiTech RP255 still in production?

No. DigiTech lists the RP255 among its past products, which are no longer in production but may still be available through local and online retailers. If you are shopping for one, you are looking at used or remaining new stock rather than a current model. DigiTech's later RP360 and RP360 XP floor processors, announced in 2014, carry the range forward.

What can the DigiTech RP255 do?

It is a guitar multi-effect processor with 94 amps, cabinets, stompboxes and effects in one floor unit, intended for gigging, practice and composing. It also works as a USB recording interface: with USB streaming audio and the bundled Cubase LE4 software, DigiTech says it lets you record directly to your computer.
