The Vintage Drive is a compact overdrive and distortion pedal from Doc Music Station, a builder whose other pedals include the Blackie Distortion, the Dark Blue Distortion and Lucy's Drive 2. It sits in the broad territory covered by overdrive pedals and distortion pedals, the pedals players reach for to push an amp or add grit to a clean tone1.
What it does
The Vintage Drive is classed as an Overdrive / Distortion pedal, meaning it covers the ground between a light drive that pushes an amp and a fuller distortion voicing. Doc Music Station's range leans heavily on this kind of drive circuit, with several overdrive and distortion designs in the lineup alongside the Vintage Drive1.
What reviewers said
The pedal was featured in a video review on Pedal of the Day, published on August 18, 2014. The site's presenter, Kyle, introduced it in characteristically plain terms1:
"We've got another VIDEO review for you today: it's the Vintage Drive from Doc Music Station1!"
Kyle, Pedal of the Day, August 18, 20141
That review is the main published documentation of the pedal, and it dates from 2014, so the pedal's current availability is not something the published record speaks to directly1.
