The Dunlop Band of Gypsies Fuzz Face is a fuzz pedal, part of Dunlop's long line of Fuzz Face designs. In a demo video, Josh of JHS Pedals introduced it as "a really cool unit called the band of gypsies Edition by Dunlop," and his verdict on the sound was simple: "it sounds awesome"1.

What it does

Like every Fuzz Face, it is a fuzz: a circuit that turns the guitar's signal into a thick, saturated distortion. Josh framed the setup around that character, saying "the gear for this is going to be really simple we need fuzz"1.

The pedal's main control is the fuzz knob, and the classic way to play it is to run it wide open and ride the guitar's volume control. That interaction between the pedal and the guitar's volume knob is the core of how a Fuzz Face is played, letting one pedal cover everything from a cleaned-up rhythm tone to a full fuzz lead1.

"you want to crank up the fuzz control and use your guitar volume to clean it up"
