How the circuit works
The Dreivoost is an all-tube boost running at 300vDC. It has one standard gain stage plus a cathode follower for clean, low impedance buffered output, which means the signal leaving the pedal is buffered and able to drive long cable runs or downstream pedals without losing top end.1
That places it apart from the usual transistor-based options among boost pedals and overdrive pedals: the gain comes from tubes, as it would in an amp's preamp1.
Controls
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| I/O knob | Off passes the signal just above unity; 0 to 5 is a clean boost; from 5 to 10 the gain ramps up considerably and starts compressing a bit1 |
| Treble/Full range toggle | Selects between Treble and Full range EQ1 |
The I/O control is the heart of the pedal. At its lowest settings it behaves as a clean boost, and as it is turned up the gain ramps up considerably and the pedal starts to compress a bit, which is where the high-gain character comes in.1
Where it came from
The Dreivoost was created when Will from EEIDI FX / Third Age Amplifiers saw Fluff (Ryan Bruce) and Ola Englund on YouTube using TS style pedals, and set out to build a tube-based alternative.1
Using it
Because it is a tube circuit in a pedal, there are a couple of things to know before putting it on a board:
- It requires an on/off switch, like an amplifier, rather than a footswitch, so it is switched by hand.1
- It runs from a standard 9vDC center negative power supply.1
- It is not only an amp driver: "It can be used just to warm up your tone going into a DAW or solid-state amp as well."1
The Dreivoost has no footswitch. Unlike most pedals, it is switched on and off by hand, like an amplifier.1
For players comparing it with other full-range tube-flavored options from the same maker, EEIDI FX also makes the EEIDI FX beAst beWst Full Range Boost1.

Questions
Is the EEIDI FX Dreivoost really all tube?
Yes. Pedal of the Day describes the Dreivoost as an all-tube boost running at 300vDC, with one standard gain stage plus a cathode follower that gives a clean, low impedance buffered output. That tube circuit is what sets it apart from transistor-based boost and overdrive pedals.
What power supply does the Dreivoost need?
The Dreivoost runs from a standard 9vDC center negative power supply, the same type most pedals use. The tubes inside run at 300vDC internally, but you power the pedal from a normal 9vDC supply rather than anything unusual.
Does the Dreivoost have a footswitch?
No. Pedal of the Day notes that, like an amplifier, it requires an on/off switch rather than a footswitch, so it is switched by hand rather than from the floor.
Can the Dreivoost go into a DAW?
Yes. The reviewer notes it can be used just to warm up your tone going into a DAW or solid-state amp as well, so it is not limited to driving a tube amplifier.
What does the Treble/Full range toggle do?
The toggle selects between a Treble and a Full range EQ setting, letting you choose whether the boost emphasizes treble or passes the whole frequency range.
