The Navigator Delay with Modulation is a tap-tempo delay pedal with a modulation circuit from Danish pedal builder Emma Electronic. It is a hybrid design: the dry signal path stays 100% analog, while the delayed signal is handled by a custom-coded DSP that allows delay times of up to 1 second. Delicious Audio describes it as offering "an elegant take on the tap-tempoed delay with modulation circuit," one that "can generate classic delay tones as well as many unique new sounds."1
What it does
The hybrid circuit is the heart of the pedal. Delicious Audio explains the reasoning: "The Navigator's hybrid circuit keeps the dry signal path 100% analog to avoid signal latency and digital sterility." In practice, your unaffected guitar tone never passes through the digital section, while the repeats are generated digitally and shaped by the modulation circuit.1
Delay time is set by tap-tempo, and the pedal can also beat-split the repeats to create rhythmic, "multi-tap" effects. The Second knob acts like a mix knob between the volume of the main delay and these extra beat-split repeats: it is perfectly balanced in the center position and delivers 0% to 100% levels at its extreme settings.1
All of this is housed in a compact, pedalboard friendly package that Delicious Audio describes as simple to use.1
