The Epigaze Audio Ascension Reverb is a reverb stompbox aimed at ambient players, introduced at NAMM 2018 as the company's first reverb and scheduled for a spring 2018 release1. RockBoard's PedalPedia describes it as a pedal designed to help players build "inspiring layers of ambiance in a simplistic, yet deep way," and it goes beyond ordinary reverb pedals with a pad feature that layers ambient octaves under the guitar signal to enrich the sound and smooth live song transitions, controlled by an onboard pad volume roller knob2.
It also carries a drone generator, a feature Delicious Audio highlighted when the pedal debuted: it "plays organ sounding notes in any of the 12 (western) keys, creating a tasteful, ambient sonic carpet under the player's notes." The drone's key is set through the center footswitch and its volume through a side knob1.
Modes and controls
The Ascension is a three-mode reverb, but the two published descriptions of those modes differ. RockBoard's entry lists Hall, Modulated Hall and Shimmer2, while Delicious Audio's report from the pedal's introduction lists Hall, Shimmer and Trem+Reverb1. Both agree on Hall and Shimmer as the core modes; the third is described as either a modulated hall or a tremolo-plus-reverb mode depending on the source.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Mix | Adjusts the reverb signal on all modes2 |
| Pad volume roller | Sets the level of the ambient octave pad layered under the guitar signal2 |
| Center footswitch | Selects the drone generator's key1 |
| Side knob | Sets the drone generator's volume1 |
Where it came from
Epigaze Audio introduced the Ascension at NAMM 2018, its first reverb pedal, with a spring 2018 release planned. Company owner and circuit designer Arthur Ingraham brought the pedal by Delicious Audio's Stompbox Booth, where a first video of it was shot1.

Questions
What is the drone generator on the Ascension Reverb?
Delicious Audio describes it as a feature that plays organ sounding notes in any of the 12 western keys, creating an ambient sonic carpet under the player's notes. The key is controlled through the center footswitch and the volume through a side knob, so a player can hold a drone in the song's key underneath their playing.
What modes does the Ascension Reverb have?
The two published descriptions differ. RockBoard's pedalpedia entry lists three modes: Hall, Modulated Hall and Shimmer. Delicious Audio's NAMM 2018 report lists Hall, Shimmer and Trem+Reverb. Both agree the pedal is a three-mode reverb stompbox.
