The Fender '63 Tube Reverb is a tube-driven outboard reverb unit from Fender, reviving the company's 6G15 circuit, the standalone spring reverb design that dates back to the early Fender amp era. Writing for Guitar.com's guide to reverb, Andy Price described the return of the design: "Fender's iconic 6G15 tube reverb unit is back and available in classic brownface or lacquered tweed livery."1
What it does
Unlike a reverb pedal, the '63 Tube Reverb is a separate unit in the tradition of the original 6G15, using tubes and a spring tank to produce the spring reverb sound associated with Fender amps. The date in its name points to the circuit it revisits, and Guitar.com's Andy Price calls the 6G15 "iconic" in the context of its reissue.1
Versions
The unit was offered in two finishes, both drawn from Fender's classic cosmetic eras1:
- Classic brownface livery
- Lacquered tweed livery
Both versions carry the same 6G15-based tube reverb design.1
