The Fjord Fuzz Berserk V2 Compact is a compact-format fuzz pedal from Fjord Fuzz. Guitar Pedal X listed it at a list price of $160 USD as of December 20201.
What it does
The Berserk V2 Compact is a fuzz in the Tonebender lineage. Guitar Pedal X describes the circuit as "very loosely based on / evolved from the Colorsound Supa Tonebender"1. Its controls are Volume, Gain/Fuzz, Thickness and Mids1. If you are new to the category, the Fuzz Pedals page covers how these circuits differ.
"It benefits from 4 smart controls - Volume, Gain/Fuzz, Thickness and Mids"
The four controls give the Compact more shaping than a typical three-knob fuzz1:
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Volume | Sets the pedal's output level |
| Gain/Fuzz | Sets the amount of fuzz saturation |
| Thickness | Shapes the body and weight of the low end |
| Mids | Shapes the midrange content |
The Mids and Thickness controls are the practical difference from a basic fuzz: they let a player dial the pedal into a specific amp or cut through a band mix without adding a separate EQ.1
Berserk V2 Compact compared
Fjord Fuzz has built several pedals around fuzz cores since the Berserk, including the SOL Fuzz-Vibe, the Thor gated fuzz and the Måne 2 x 2 Dynamic Filter Fuzz. The Berserk V2 Compact is the compact take on the Berserk V2 itself, keeping the four-control layout described above in a smaller enclosure. Players choosing within the range are picking between the straight Tonebender-derived fuzz of the Berserk and the more specialized voicings of the later pedals.1

Questions
What circuit is the Berserk V2 Compact based on?
Guitar Pedal X describes the Berserk V2 Compact as very loosely based on, or evolved from, the Colorsound Supa Tonebender, a classic British fuzz circuit. That places it in the Tonebender family of fuzzes rather than the Fuzz Face or Octavia camps, and it carries four controls that shape gain, thickness and mids around that core.
How does the Compact differ from the Berserk V2?
The Compact is the smaller-format version of the Berserk V2. Both come from Fjord Fuzz and share the Berserk name and Tonebender-derived circuit approach, but the Compact is built in a more compact enclosure. Players comparing the two are essentially choosing between the same fuzz voicing in two different pedal sizes.
