The Fjord Fuzz Måne is a fuzz with a dynamic filter built in, combining a silicon fuzz circuit with a filter section that responds to your playing. Guitar Pedal X's Stefan Karlsson, reviewing it in September 2024, described it as a "2 x 2 Dynamic Filter Fuzz" that "combines silicon fuzz with a dynamic filter"1. It sits in the overlap between fuzz pedals and filter pedals, and each half can be used on its own or together.
Controls
The pedal is split into two sides, each with its own big knob and its own footswitch1.
| Side | Control | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Filter | Filter Cutoff (big knob) | Sets where the filter sits in the frequency range1 |
| Filter | Filter Type switch | Twin-T Band Pass or Resonant Low Pass1 |
| Filter | Filter Level | Sets the filter's output level1 |
| Filter | Footswitch | Filter bypass or engage1 |
| Fuzz | Fuzz Gain (big knob) | Sets the fuzz drive1 |
| Fuzz | Fuzz Type switch | Low Gain + High Dynamics, or High Gain + Low Dynamics1 |
| Fuzz | Fuzz Level | Sets the fuzz's output level1 |
| Fuzz | Footswitch | Fuzz bypass or engage1 |
Because the fuzz and filter each have their own footswitch, you can switch them on separately: fuzz alone, filter alone, or both stacked1.
Low Gain and High Gain sounds
The Fuzz Type switch selects between two characters. Karlsson summed them up directly: "Low Gain is dynamic, starved and spitty; High Gain is steadily full-on and Tone Bender-ish"1. In other words, the low-gain setting cleans up and reacts to picking, while the high-gain setting holds a sustained, full-on fuzz in the manner of a Tone Bender-style circuit.
The fuzz runs on BC848 silicon transistors, which Karlsson described as "expressive and richly textured"1.
The filter and the expression pedal
The filter side offers two modes, Twin-T Band Pass or Resonant Low Pass, set by a switch, with Filter Cutoff and Filter Level controls1. An EXP Port at the base of the pedal accepts an expression pedal that controls the Filter Cutoff, so you can sweep the filter with your foot while playing1. Karlsson was firm on this point:
"The Måne is a joyride in pedal format - where you most definitely need an expression pedal - it's an incomplete experience without one."
If you do not already own an expression pedal, the expression pedals page covers the type.
Inside the pedal there is an internal trim-pot for the Resonant Filter Feedback. Karlsson "did not feel the need to adjust" it, so it can be left at its factory setting1.
What reviewers said
Guitar Pedal X returned to the Måne in December 2024 for its roundup of the year's new fuzz pedals, calling it "A really amazing Filter Fuzz with a tonne of interesting textures onboard"2. Karlsson's verdict there: "Conceptually really smartly conceived, and beautifully engineered - one of my favourite Fjord Fuzzes for sure!"2.
Versions and availability
The Måne has been released in various colourways, including all-white, yellow-knob, red-knob, blue Marconi-style knobs, and Black and Gold1. As of September 2024 it was fairly widely available, retailing for $229 and equivalent1.

Questions
Does the Fjord Fuzz Måne have an expression pedal input?
Yes. The Måne has an EXP Port at the base of the pedal for attaching an expression pedal, which controls the Filter Cutoff. Guitar Pedal X's reviewer considered an expression pedal essential, calling the Måne an incomplete experience without one, so it is worth budgeting for a pedal to go with it.
What transistors does the Fjord Fuzz Måne use?
The Måne uses BC848 silicon transistors. Guitar Pedal X's Stefan Karlsson described them as expressive and richly textured, and they are the basis of the pedal's silicon fuzz circuit.
Can the fuzz and filter be switched on separately?
Yes. The Måne has two footswitches, one for the fuzz and one for the filter, each with its own bypass and engage function. That means you can run the fuzz alone, the filter alone, or both together.
What is the resonant filter feedback trim-pot?
Inside the Måne there is an internal trim-pot that sets the Resonant Filter Feedback, shaping how pronounced the resonance of the low-pass filter mode is. The Guitar Pedal X reviewer did not feel the need to adjust it, so most players can leave it at its factory setting.
How much does the Fjord Fuzz Måne cost?
The Måne retails for $229 and equivalent, a price Guitar Pedal X reported in September 2024 when the pedal was fairly widely available, and repeated in its December 2024 roundup of the year's fuzz pedals.
