The Flamma FC03 is a mini delay pedal from Flamma Innovation. It is part of the company's FC Series, a lineup Flamma describes as "this wonderful collection of small pedal, designed to fit anywhere without sacrificing any tonal quality", with a "compact and reliable design" meant to fit easily onto any pedalboard12.
A mini delay with three modes
The FC03 belongs to Flamma's FC Series of compact pedals. Pedal of the Day described the series as "this wonderful collection of small pedal, designed to fit anywhere without sacrificing any tonal quality", and noted that "The compact and reliable design in the FC Series makes it easy to fit the FC03 Delay and the rest of this lineup easily"2.
The three modes cover the classic delay flavors most players look for in a small pedal32:
- Analog: Flamma describes this as a "Warm and smooth classic analog delay sound"1. Pedal of the Day's review says Analog "produces a warm, smooth, classic analog delay effect"2.
- Real Echo: the second of the three modes named by both the maker and reviewers12.
- Tape Echo: the third mode, which led gearnews.com to also feature the FC03 in its tape delay pedal buying guide5.
JHS Pedals' blog, introducing the brand to its readers, described the FC03 Mini Delay's modes as "namely, slap echo, tape echo and real echo", and summed up that "The FC03 Mini Delay has some great modes to choose from"6.
Is it analog or digital?
Flamma Innovation's own product page calls the FC03 "The mini Analog delay pedal"1. Pedal of the Day's review, however, titles the pedal a "Mini Digital Guitar Pedal"2, and Delicious Audio added it to its list of mini digital delay pedals2. What every source agrees on is the voicing of the Analog mode: a warm, smooth, classic analog-style delay sound12.
The controls
The FC03 keeps things simple, with the three knobs found on most conventional delay pedals. gearnews.com lists "controls for feedback amount, delay time, and level"5, and Pedal of the Day describes the same layout as "Besides the regular Effect Level, Time and Feedback controls"2.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Level (Effect Level) | Adjusts the level of the delayed effect2 |
| Time | Sets the delay time, within the pedal's 5 to 600 ms range23 |
| Feedback | Sets the feedback amount, that is, how many repeats are produced5 |
The FC03 is listed as sold out on Flamma Innovation's own product page, so it is not currently available new from the maker1.
What reviewers said
Pedal of the Day's verdict addressed the usual worry about mini pedals directly: "Mini pedals can sometimes lack in features or tonal options, but that isn't the case with the FC03 Delay"2. The reviewer counted the three delay modes and the full set of Level, Time and Feedback controls as the reason the pedal does not trade features for size2.
gearnews.com's delay buying guide placed the FC03 among compact delay options, writing that it "brings three classic delay flavors ( Analog , Real Echo , and Tape Echo ) into a pedalboard-friendly box" and that "With a delay range up to 600 ms and true bypass switching, it covers the essentials"3. The same site's tape delay guide also features the FC03 among tape delay pedals5.
Delicious Audio added the FC03 to its Best Mini Delay Pedals list in an article updated May 31, 2022, noting it "can deliver a delay time between 5ms and 600 ms"4.
Where it sits in Flamma's range
The FC03 is one of several compact pedals in Flamma's FC Series, a lineup the maker presents as small pedals "designed to fit anywhere without sacrificing any tonal quality", with a "compact and reliable design" that makes it easy to fit the FC03 Delay and the rest of the lineup together on a pedalboard2.
