The Hypoxia is an experimental analog chorus pedal from FTelettronica Pedals. A chorus thickens a guitar's signal by doubling it and detuning the copy, and the Hypoxia's twist is that its modulation is driven by a variable shape LFO, meaning the player can change the shape of the wave that moves the effect rather than being locked to one fixed modulation pattern1. Pedal of the Day described it as "an experimental Analog Chorus pedal that's modulated by variable shape LFO"1.

What it does

At its core this is a chorus, the effect type covered on the Chorus Pedals page, but the variable shape LFO sets it apart from chorus pedals with a single fixed modulation wave. The Shape control sets the LFO wave, so the character of the sweep, and with it the movement of the chorus, changes with the wave the player selects1. Pedal of the Day put it this way: "A chorus, yes, but so much more"1.

The pedal also carries True Bypass circuitry, so when it is switched off the guitar's signal passes through without the effect circuit in the way1.
