The Fuzzrocious Blastripper is a parallel distortion/fuzz pedal built by Fuzzrocious with the doom band Bongripper. Announced on 14 May 2020, it was limited to just 40 units worldwide, with an RRP of USD 350 plus shipping1. The sale went live on Reverb on 15 May 20201.
The controls and three footswitches
The Blastripper runs a distortion circuit and a fuzz circuit in parallel, each with its own footswitch, so either side can be switched on its own or together12. A third, central footswitch activates a gated boost for the distortion side12.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Distortion volume and gain (each side) | Individual knobs for the volume and gain of each side of the parallel distortion1 |
| Mix knob | A red knob in the middle that blends between the distortion and fuzz sides13 |
| Fuzz volume and tone | The fuzz side gets its own separate volume and tone controls1 |
Guitar.com described the layout this way: "The third and central footswitch activates a gated boost for the distortion, which itself consists of two parallel gain" stages2. The fuzz has its own separate knobs for volume and tone2.
A Bongripper collaboration limited to 40 units
The pedal came out of a collaboration between the doom band Bongripper and Fuzzrocious effects, announced on the band's Facebook page12. Bongripper's own announcement put it plainly: "we will be releasing a batch of 40 Blastripper pedals our collaboration with Fuzzrocious"2.
Visually, the pedal carries Bongripper's signature goat design, with LEDs for eyes, and the "HAIL SATAN WORSHIP DOOM" message on the front1. gearnews.com's writeup called it a pedal that "looks like pure evil!"1.
With only 40 units made and sold through a single Reverb store on one day in May 2020, the Blastripper is a limited-run release rather than a standard catalog pedal.
