What it does
The pedal combines two functions in one box. The overdrive section shapes drive tones, and the clean boost is engaged via its own footswitch, independent of the overdrive section, so it can be used as a standalone boost when the drive is off1.
The front panel is busier than most drives. Mike B noted that "3 footswitches, 3 toggles and 4 control switches might seem a bit daunting at first," which is worth knowing if you are used to a simple two-knob overdrive1.
Dark/Bright switch and clipping options
One of the toggles is a Dark/Bright switch. On the Dark setting, Mike B found the pedal adds weight without losing clarity1:
"I really like the deeper, darker setting here: it seems to add a great bit of low end without overpowering the tone"
The review also highlights the pedal's Dark/Bright switch, with the reviewer favoring the Dark setting: "I really like the deeper, darker setting here: it seems to add a great bit of low end without overpowering the tone or muddying it up"1.
Fuzzrocious Pedals
Fuzzrocious Pedals finishes its enclosures by hand, and Mike B pointed out that some are painted "sometimes by the kids" of the people running the company1. The maker has since released other drive and boost designs, including the Fuzzrocious lunaReclipse, a preamp/boost/overdrive shown as a new product at the BK Stompbox Exhibit2.
