Fuzzrocious Playing Mantis

Boost

What it does

The two sides of the pedal work independently. The overdrive side can toggle between three modes: a boost, an overdrive, and a distortion, so one half of the box covers the range from a clean push to a harder clipped drive. The oscillator side generates a square wave fuzz, and it can be controlled with an expression pedal for pitch-shifting, which puts it in the territory of synth pedals and octave and pitch pedals as much as fuzz1.

"The overdrive side can toggle between a boost, OD, and distortion, while the oscillator side can be controlled via expression pedal for some pitch-shifting square wave fuzz"1

For a player, that means the Mantis can serve as a boost or overdrive on its own, or blend its drive with the oscillator's square wave for a more aggressive, synth-like texture. The expression pedal control over the oscillator's pitch is what sets it apart from a standard drive or fuzz box1.
