The Fuzzrocious Typhon V2 is a limited edition preamp/distortion pedal built around four gain stages, announced in July 2020 as a collaboration between Fuzzrocious Pedals and Blake Wyland of The Tone Mob. Delicious Audio's Paolo De Gregorio described it as "a limited edition FOUR gain stage 'anything gain' kind of device," meaning its character depends heavily on how you set it: the four knobs on top control separate gains, and depending on how they are set the pedal covers "anything from clean gain" upward1.
It is the successor to the original Typhon. De Gregorio, who worked with Fuzzrocious on the project, wrote that "myself and the Fuzzrocious Family put our noggins together and came up with a worthy successor to the originals"1.
What changed from V1
The V2 differs from the first Typhon in two ways that matter to a player's tone. According to Delicious Audio, "The brand new V2 has even more gain and a more linear response (whereas v1 was slightly scooped)"1. In practical terms, the V2 keeps more of the midrange intact where the original leaned toward a scooped, hollowed-out EQ, and it reaches higher overall gain.
Controls
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Four gain knobs (top row) | Each sets a separate gain stage; combined settings range from clean gain to full distortion1 |
The Typhon V2 was a limited edition release, so availability is tied to the size of the original run rather than ongoing production1.
Where it sits in the Fuzzrocious range
Fuzzrocious has a history of gain-stage-heavy designs and collaborations, from the Rat Tail and Cat King to the Bongripper Blastripper. The Typhon V2's four-stage approach places it among the maker's higher-gain preamp-style pedals, in the same family as its distortion and preamp offerings1.
