The GOKKO Angels Chorus is a chorus effect pedal, model GK-23, made by GOKKO. A chorus pedal doubles your guitar's signal with a slightly delayed, modulated copy, producing the shimmering, widened sound players use for clean arpeggios, 80s rhythm tones and adding body to a lead line. GOKKO describes the Angels Chorus as having two separate controls for independent variation of Rate and Depth, so you can set how fast the modulation sweeps and how pronounced it is without the two affecting each other.1
Controls
The pedal keeps its layout to the two controls that define a chorus sound1:
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Rate | Sets the speed of the modulation sweep |
| Depth | Sets how pronounced the modulation is |
Because the two controls vary Rate and Depth independently, changes to one do not disturb the setting of the other, which makes it straightforward to dial in a range of chorus sounds from subtle thickening to a pronounced sweep.1
Noise and build
GOKKO states the pedal has a signal-to-noise ratio of 90 dB or more (IHFA) for lower noise operation, which matters on a pedalboard where chorus sits in a chain with other effects and any hiss is multiplied.1
Physically it is a small unit: 11.2 x 3.4 x 6.4 cm and 0.23 kg, so it takes up little room on a board.1
Where it sits in GOKKO's range
GOKKO also makes other chorus pedals, including the GOKKO Angel and the GOKKO Super Chorus, so players comparing chorus circuits within the brand have those options alongside the Angels Chorus.
