The Ground King FX Halo Fuzz is a fuzz pedal from Ground King FX that takes the Colorsound one-knob fuzz schematic as its starting point. Pedal of the Day describes it as a distorted monster that is loud but has wonderful tonal qualities as well1.
What it does
The main knob in the center adjusts the Bias of the fuzz, and a tone switch lets you adjust the sound to fit any rig's overall sound1. The pedal uses hand picked NOS (new old stock) transistors, the kind of period-correct parts fuzz builders seek out for their character1.
Pedal of the Day's reviewer noted that the pedal is not just a terrible noisemaker1:
"However, it isn't just a terrible noisemaker, the distorted tones here are bold and meaty, and the tone switch lets you adjust the sound to fit any rig."
Build
The Halo Fuzz comes in an unpainted aluminum enclosure with a PCB faceplate1. If you are comparing it with other fuzzes, see the site's Fuzz Pedals page, or its pages on Overdrive Pedals and Distortion Pedals for the related drive effects.
