The PdeQ (Province DE Quebec) is a professional presence and depth guitar EQ pedal from GUP Tech, designed to emulate an amplifier's presence and resonance controls. According to the maker, it delivers "the extra OOOMMMPHHH and push needed to cut through the mix." The Special 2025 edition 6th Anniversary version is a boutique handmade pedal built in Saguenay, Quebec, Canada1.
What the PdeQ does
The pedal takes the two controls most players know from the back panel of a tube amp, presence and resonance, and puts them on the floor in front of the amp. GUP Tech describes it as a way to shape high-frequency enhancement and low-end response independently, which is where the pedal gets its push in a band mix1.
Controls
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Presence | High-frequency enhancement, with an on/off toggle1 |
| Depth/Resonance | Low-end response, with an on/off toggle1 |
Each control has its own toggle, so either section can be switched out on its own. With both toggles off, the maker says the pedal "Acts as a clean buffer when both toggles are off," which makes it usable as a line driver even when no EQ is engaged1.
Power and bypass
The PdeQ runs on 9V DC center negative and draws 20mA, which GUP Tech describes as low power consumption1. Switching is true bypass, which the maker says "preserves signal integrity" when the pedal is off1.
The Special 2025 edition 6th Anniversary
This edition marks GUP Tech's sixth anniversary and carries a design based on three vintage Quebec license plates, with a sixth anniversary mention on the side of the enclosure. Buyers choose from three year options: 1969, 1974 or 1976 license plate designs1.
The maker's page lists the price as £109.00 GBP1.
GUP Tech builds the PdeQ family in other forms too, including the Double PdeQ GH Tribute edition, a matte white two-channel version released as a tribute to Gary Holt. The maker's wider range includes the Ti-Q, the Taxi Cab and the I Sea Q Douche Edition1.
