The Harley Benton MP-100 MIDI Foot Controller is a compact floor unit that sends MIDI commands from your foot, letting you change presets, patches and settings on MIDI-equipped pedals, multi-effects units and rack gear without bending down. Harley Benton classifies it as a switcher, and it sits among MIDI pedals and switching pedals as the piece of a board that controls the rest of the rig rather than shaping the guitar signal itself1.

It is also the controller used on the NEMESIS BOARD based on QUAD 4.1, RockBoard's own pedalboard configuration, which gives a picture of how it is intended to be deployed: as the command center of a larger, organized board1.

Power and how to run it

The MP-100 runs on 9V DC, center negative, and draws 110mA1. That current draw is worth noting when planning a board: it is above what many small daisy-chain supplies comfortably spare for one outlet, so a dedicated output on a pedalboard power supply is the safer home for it. Harley Benton's English manual for the MP-100 is available as a PDF from Thomann1.

Where it sits on a board

Because the MP-100 sends commands rather than processing audio, it does not take a slot in the guitar's signal chain the way an overdrive, delay or reverb pedal does. Its job is to sit at the front of the board, or on the floor beside it, and switch programs on whatever MIDI gear the rest of the rig holds. Harley Benton's own use of it on the NEMESIS BOARD based on QUAD 4.1 shows it working as the foot control for a full board system1.
