The Chroma Console Special Edition Monochrome Green is a limited colorway of the Chroma Console, the stereo multi-effects pedal from Hologram Electronics. Underneath the green finish it is the same pedal: 20 stereo effects organized into four modules you can reorder, 80 user presets, tap tempo, and MIDI over DIN and USB-C. Hologram says the pedal "takes inspiration from the eccentricity, grit, and lively instability of beloved vintage recording technology, combines it with brand new sounds"1.
The Monochrome Green product page lists a price of £405.00 GBP, with free shipping and import duties and taxes included in the price, so there are no extra charges on delivery1. Hologram says the special edition "takes inspiration from the eccentricity, grit, and lively instability of beloved vintage recording technology, combines it with brand new sounds"1. It measures 6.0 x 5.0 x 3.0 inches1.
A multi-effects pedal with 20 effects
The Chroma Console offers 20 stereo effects organized into four discrete modules: Character, Movement, Diffusion and Texture3. Guitar.com's reviewer Jason Mays described the split plainly: "Character is your drive" and "Movement is all your modulation"5. The modules can be rearranged, and MusicRadar noted that players can change signal chains and effect order using the pedal's color-coded modules with no digital screens6. Reordering the modules is where much of the pedal's character comes from: Mays found that changing the module order creates unexpected and unique sounds5.
Each effect has its own color-coded knobs plus status lights and soft-touch buttons for selecting effects, so there is no menu diving. As Mays put it5:
"everything you need to know about what's happening with the pedal is determined by the position of the colour-coded knob"5
Jason Mays, Guitar.com5
He called it "probably the most easy-to-use and idiot-proof effects pedal I've ever had the pleasure of getting to grips with"5.
The Chroma Console works for guitar, bass and line-level gear alike: it is designed for both instrument and line input levels, with stereo input and output, and every effect can process a stereo signal or create a stereo image from a mono signal7. A TRS expression input is mappable to any primary control3.
Effects, presets and tempo
The four modules each carry a set of effects, with a configurable filter effect offering Tilt, Lowpass or Highpass modes1. Controls per effect include Amount / Effect Volume, Rate / Drift, Mix / Output Level and a Tilt EQ with sensitivity, as detailed in Guitar Pedal X's preview8.
- 20 stereo effects across the four modules3
- 80 user presets for instant recall of favorite sounds13
- Tap tempo that syncs time-based effects as well as modulation effects1
- MIDI In/Out/Thru with clock synchronization1
Hologram lists 20 effects for the Chroma Console, organized into four effects modules: Character, Movement, Diffusion and Texture35. The filter effect is configurable between Tilt, Lowpass, or Highpass modes91. Tap Tempo can sync time-based effects as well as modulation effects12, and the pedal ships with a printed quick start guide and printed user's manual12.
What reviewers said
The Chroma Console collected strong press notices around its launch. Guitar.com's Jason Mays reviewed it in March 2024, writing:
"the Chroma truly stands out as one of the most musical and creative pedals I've played in a good while"5
Jason Mays, Guitar.com5
Guitar Pedal X's Stefan Karlsson called it "one of the most inventive and innovative pedals of the year" and "an entirely new type of Multi-Effector," while noting it is a little oversized for pedalboards overall10. The site went on to award the Chroma Console Bronze in its 2023 Pedals of the Year roundup, citing its gesture control and flexible effect-block routing4. Delicious Audio's 2025 buying guide for synth multi-fx pedals highlighted its stereo I/O and comprehensive MIDI control for studio and live integration11.

Questions
Is the Chroma Console Monochrome Green edition sold out?
Yes. Hologram Electronics lists the Monochrome Green Special Edition as sold out on its product page. The standard Chroma Console's US, EU, UK and AU variants are also shown as sold out or unavailable, so the maker's webstore currently has no Chroma Console stock in any listed colorway.
Does the Hologram Chroma Console have true bypass?
It offers both options: true bypass switching, or buffered bypass with trails so delays and reverbs continue to ring out after you disengage the pedal. Hologram Electronics lists both modes on the product page, and the choice between them lets you keep tails on ambient sounds or cut everything dead.
Does the Chroma Console come with a power supply?
Yes. The Monochrome Green Special Edition ships with a 9V DC power supply included, according to Hologram Electronics' product page. The pedal's rear panel also carries a 9V DC power port rated at 500mA, and the box includes a printed quick start guide and printed user's manual.
Does the Chroma Console have MIDI?
Yes. It has MIDI In, Out and Thru over DIN plus USB-C, with clock synchronization, full control over effects and instant preset recall via program changes. Hologram describes the MIDI implementation as highly configurable, and the pedal also receives firmware updates over MIDI.
How many presets does the Chroma Console store?
Up to 80 user presets, which Hologram Electronics lists on the product page and Premier Guitar confirms for instant recall of favorite sounds. Presets can be called up instantly with MIDI program changes, and firmware v1.04, released in May 2025, sped up preset loading.
What other Monochrome colorways exist?
The Monochrome Special Edition line also includes Red, Yellow and Blue colorways, each listed on its own Hologram Electronics product page. All of them are the same Chroma Console multi-effect pedal underneath, differing only in the enclosure colorway.
