The Ibanez WF10 Wah/Fuzz Pedal is a fuzz and wah combined in a single enclosure. Ibanez's own words, quoted by TONEHOME from an Ibanez Sound Effects brochure of June 1990, put it simply: "The WF10 combines the sound of a wah-wah and a fuzz in one pedal." The pedal was produced from 1987 to 1996, has never been re-issued, and is today described as rare and highly collectible1.

What the WF10 does

The WF10 belongs to Ibanez's Power Series 10, and its two effects can work together or apart. TONEHOME records that the pedal "may be used just as a wah, or as a combination unit be switching the fuzz in." A player can therefore rock the treadle for the wah effect on its own, or bring the fuzz in behind it for the full combined sound1.

The fuzz section has its own switching arrangement. It can be engaged with the on board switch, or using an external footswitch, which gives a player the choice of controlling the fuzz from wherever it suits their setup1.

Production, rarity and collectibility

The WF10 was made between 1987 and 1996. TONEHOME's listing records it as never re-issued, with availability rated rare and collectibility rated high1. For a player comparing it with Ibanez's other fuzzes, the site's pages cover models such as the Ibanez Standard Fuzz, the Ibanez 850 Fuzz Mini and the Ibanez No. 90 Fuzz & Wa, an earlier Ibanez combination of fuzz and wah.

The WF10 has been out of production since 1996 and has never been re-issued, so any example a player finds will be a used, vintage pedal1.

Price when new

The pedal's list price in 1988/89 was 218 DM, the German mark that was the currency of the market where that price was set. No US dollar list price is recorded for the WF101.

Manual

TONEHOME hosts the Ibanez WF10 manual as a PDF download on its product page, covering the pedal as originally supplied1.

Questions

Has the Ibanez WF10 been reissued?

No. TONEHOME records the WF10 as never having been re-issued. The pedal was produced from 1987 to 1996, and after that production ended. Anyone wanting the wah and fuzz combination in one pedal has to look for a used example, and the pedal is described as rare, so finding one can take patience.

Can I switch the WF10 fuzz on with an external footswitch?

Yes. The fuzz section can be engaged either with the on board switch or by using an external footswitch. That gives a player the option of placing the fuzz control where it is easier to reach on a pedalboard, while the pedal itself stays in position.

What did the Ibanez WF10 cost when new?

The list price in 1988/89 was 218 DM, the German currency of the time. That figure comes from TONEHOME's product page. No US dollar list price is recorded for the pedal.

Can the WF10 be used as a wah only?

Yes. The WF10 may be used just as a wah, or as a combination unit by switching the fuzz in. A player who wants only the wah can leave the fuzz out of the signal, and bring it in when the sound calls for it.

Where can I find the Ibanez WF10 manual?

TONEHOME hosts a scanned copy of the Ibanez WF10 manual as a PDF download on its product page for the pedal. The manual covers the pedal as originally supplied by Ibanez during its 1987 to 1996 production run.

How rare is the Ibanez WF10?

TONEHOME describes the WF10's availability as rare and rates its collectibility as high. Combined with the fact that it was never re-issued, that makes the pedal a sought-after item on the used market rather than something a player will find at every vintage gear shop.
