The JHS Wanderer is a dual overdrive pedal from JHS Pedals that puts two of the company's best-known circuits in one enclosure: the Morning Glory, JHS's take on a Marshall Bluesbreaker and its best-selling pedal ever, and the NOTAKLÖN, its Bill Finnegan-derived Klon-style overdrive with the Shamrock mod123. Announced in October 2026, it is the first pedal in JHS's new vertical two-in-one format, with top-mounted jacks and power4513.
Josh Scott, who designed the pairing, says the combination comes straight from his own boards: "Every board I've owned since 2009 has had the same two pedals on it"4. On the JHS launch video, the presenter calls it "my ultimate dream overdrive. This combo is kind of like your signature go-to drive pairing"6.
What each side does
The Morning Glory side carries Volume, Drive and Tone controls, with Drive adding brightness as it increases15. Its Gain toggle engages a high-gain mode, and can be flipped remotely5. The NOTAKLÖN side has Volume, Gain and Treble, plus a +/- switch that, per Guitar World, "kicks things up by 4 dB, increases the midrange and engages an additional stage of hard clipping"5. In total the pedal has six dials, two footswitches and two mini switches5.
| Side | Controls | Toggle |
|---|---|---|
| Morning Glory | Volume, Drive, Tone | Gain toggle, high gain mode5 |
| NOTAKLÖN | Volume, Gain, Treble | +/- switch, +4 dB, more midrange, extra hard clipping5 |
Guitar World notes that JHS is billing the pedal as "the ultimate overdrive"5.
Routing: series pedal or two separate drives
The Wanderer has four jacks. Using the main input on the far right and the main output on the far left, it behaves as a standard series dual overdrive, with a center Order toggle that swaps which circuit comes first42. The toggle has no effect when you use the individual FX jacks4.
The individual input and output jacks for each circuit let you split the two sides entirely: put another pedal between them, or give each side its own loop on a switcher4. As the JHS demo puts it, "With ins and outs for each side, you can run each side separately"8.
The Order toggle only works in series mode with the main outer jacks. Once you route the sides through the individual FX jacks, the order of the two circuits is set by your cabling, not the switch4.
Four gain stages with the Red Remote
Each side has its own Red Remote quarter-inch jack: one on the upper left for the Morning Glory Gain toggle, one on the lower left for the NOTAKLÖN +/- toggle4. Each jack accepts a JHS Red Remote (sold separately), any latching amp-style footswitch, or a switcher with amp-control outputs, letting you flip either toggle on the fly3. With both toggles remotely switchable, the pedal offers four gain stages in one box35.
The Red Remote approach is not new for JHS: the Morning Glory V4 has long had a Remote Gain jack that switches its Gain toggle with a standard patch cable, and the Double Barrel V4 carried the same feature9.
Power and connections
The Wanderer runs on 9VDC center negative and consumes 165mA4.
Do not use more than 9VDC. JHS warns that damage may occur and the warranty will be voided4.
At 165mA, the draw is well above what a 9V battery or a low-current daisy chain output is meant to supply, so plan on a dedicated 9V supply output34.
What reviewers said
Coverage at launch was broadly positive about the concept. Gearnews noted that the Wanderer "contains two of JHS Pedals' most popular drive circuits" and should be pretty decent, packing two proven circuits10. Guitar Pedal X called the pairing essentially a Klon-Breaker, combining a Bluesbreaker-style channel with a Klone2. Delicious Audio described it as a structural leap forward for the dual-overdrive format1.
The JHS demo video walks through the format, the individual FX jacks, the Red Remote jacks and the power requirements, and shows the four gain stages available with Red Remote control on both sides3.
A second JHS video presents the pedal as "a Morning Glory and NOTAKLÖN 2-in-1 overdrive pedal" and shows the two overdrives running in one enclosure7.
Price and availability
The Wanderer lists at $299.00 USD on the JHS product page4. Guitar World reported it available now for $299 at launch5, and Guitar Pedal X lists it at £299 at UK retailer Andertons2. Gearnews reported it would be available at Thomann and at Sweetwater10.

Questions
Can I run the two sides of the JHS Wanderer separately?
Yes. Besides the main input and output, the Wanderer has individual input and output jacks for each circuit. You can put another pedal between the two sides, or give each side its own loop on a switcher for external routing. Using just the main outer jacks, it behaves as a standard series pedal.
Is the JHS Wanderer true bypass?
No. JHS lists the Wanderer as silent soft-touch switching with buffered bypass. Both footswitches are soft-touch, and the pedal passes signal through a buffer when disengaged rather than a true-bypass path.
How much does the JHS Wanderer cost?
The JHS Wanderer lists at $299.00 USD on the JHS product page as of October 2026. Guitar World and the JHS demo videos give the same $299 price at launch, and Guitar Pedal X lists it at £299 at UK retailer Andertons.
Does the order toggle work when using the individual FX jacks?
No. The center Order toggle selects which effect comes first in the signal chain when you are using the main outer input and output jacks. When you use the individual FX jacks for each circuit, the toggle has no effect, because the routing between the two sides is set by your cables.
Is the NOTAKLÖN side a Klon clone?
The NOTAKLÖN is JHS's take on the Klon circuit derived from Bill Finnegan's original design, with JHS's Shamrock mod. Guitar Pedal X describes the Wanderer as pairing a Bluesbreaker-style channel with a Klone, calling the combination essentially a Klon-Breaker.
