The Joyo EQ-505 is a compact equalizer pedal that also works as a tuner. It gives you five EQ bands to shape your tone, a low battery light to warn you before power runs out, and tuning functions covering the full range of guitar and bass strings. It is part of a wider line of equalization pedals from Joyo, alongside models such as the JOYO EQ-504 and the JOYO EQ-MP3.1
What the EQ-505 does
The EQ-505 is a five-band equalizer: each slider cuts or boosts one part of the frequency spectrum so you can shape your tone from the pedalboard rather than the amp. Joyo gives the bass band as plus or minus 12dB at 75Hz, and the middle two bands as plus or minus 12dB, with the second of them adjustable across 1KHz to 2KHz.1
The pedal also carries tuning functions. Joyo lists an A4 frequency of 440Hz, the standard reference pitch, and a tuning range that runs from 0A at 27.5Hz up to 8C at 4186.01Hz, which covers every note a guitar or bass can produce.1
Power and battery
The EQ-505 runs on 9V power and takes a single 6F22 battery, the standard rectangular 9V battery. A low battery light is listed among the pedal's features, so you get a warning when the battery is running down.1
Size and build
Joyo lists the enclosure as using color silicon buttons and an organic glass panel, a compact housing in the style of the EQ-505's original design.1
Where it sits in Joyo's range
Joyo makes several EQ pedals, and the EQ-505 is the compact five-band option. The Joyo R-12 Band Controller, introduced in 2019, is a larger 10-band graphic EQ with LED-illuminated sliders aimed at six- and seven-string guitar and four- and five-string bass. The JOYO BAND EQUALIZER and Joyo JF-11 fill other slots in the range. If you want to shape tone in other ways, Joyo also makes overdrive, distortion and compressor pedals.

Questions
Does the JOYO EQ-505 take a battery?
Yes. Joyo lists the EQ-505 as running on 9V power with a single 6F22 9V battery, which is the standard rectangular 9V battery used in many compact pedals. That means it can run on battery alone or from a 9V DC supply, so it can sit on a board or be used without one.
Does the JOYO EQ-505 have a low battery light?
Yes. Joyo's product page for the EQ-505 lists a Low Battery Light among its features, so the pedal warns you when the 9V battery is running down and needs replacing or a power supply is needed.
How big is the JOYO EQ-505?
Joyo gives the EQ-505's dimensions as 73mm long by 48mm wide by 25mm high. That is a compact enclosure, smaller than a full-sized pedal, which suits crowded pedalboards where a five-band EQ and tuner need to take up as little room as possible.
Does the EQ-505 have a built-in tuner?
Yes. Joyo's specifications list an A4 frequency of 440Hz and a tuning range running from 0A at 27.5Hz to 8C at 4186.01Hz, which covers the full range of guitar and bass strings. The pedal therefore doubles as a tuner as well as an equaliser.
