JOYO WAH-I Classic Wah/Volume

The Joyo WAH-I Classic Wah/Volume is a compact pedal that does two jobs in one enclosure: it works as a wah-wah and as a volume pedal. Joyo describes it as "a multifunctional WAH-WAH pedal, featuring both WAH-WAH and VOLUME functions," and it runs an analog circuit on standard 9V DC power¹.

What it does and how it is controlled

Operation is deliberately simple. A toggle switch selects between WAH-WAH/VOLUME and WAH-WAH/BYPASS, and a minimum volume control knob sets the floor of the volume sweep. In VOLUME Control mode, adjusting that knob sets the volume you get when the pedal is toed down completely, which lets you tailor the top of the sweep to your rig²³.

The volume side is an active circuit rather than a passive one. Joyo says the "Active volume control circuit design ensures tone's minimum signal loss and the signal intact," meaning the pedal buffers the signal instead of letting a passive potentiometer load down your guitar's tone as you roll the volume back³.

Power

The WAH-I runs on 9V DC, center negative, and draws 18mA². That is modest by pedal standards, but the active circuit means it needs power rather than running passively, so plan for a spot on your power supply.

Where it sits among the alternatives
