The Keyztone WahouWah is a wah pedal with a different approach from the familiar rocker pedal: it is a wah modeler, built to recreate the tone of other wah designs through an analog filter circuit that you configure in an app. Keyztone is a French company, and Delicious Audio reported the pedal was now shipping as of December 2021.1
What it does
The stated goal of the design, according to Delicious Audio's Paolo De Gregorio, was "to have a pedal able to recreate the tone of any wah out there." The audio path is analog; only the configuration is digital. As the source puts it: "All is ANALOG excepted the way you configure the pedal."1
Because there is no rocker pedal or knob on the unit, all editing happens in the companion app, where you get controls for Frequency, Q Factor and Level, plus four Wah Analog Filter Modes: Normal Wah, Hard Wah, Soft Wah and No Wah. Settings are stored in six onboard presets, with unlimited presets kept in the app's library.1
On the pedal itself, operation is by foot: three footswitches change presets and a fourth handles Bypass.1
At the time of the December 2021 report, Keyztone was described as working on a new idea that was in development and crowdsourcing, with the WahouWah shipping.1
