Glossary
preset
Presets appear as named sounds on multi-effects and modelers, such as a bluesy tweed-style amp simulation on the Boss GT-1 or the DigiTech WH-1's 2-octave up Whammy setting12. On simpler pedals, the term can describe a fixed internal voicing, like a preset level of vintage-style fuzz in a single-knob fuzz or a preset EQ voiced for a specific bass tone34. Presets can also refer to fixed internal characteristics, such as a high preset resonance in a filter mode or a preset-type wah voice within a distortion56. Some pedals offer preset capability, letting players save and recall settings7.
