The KHDK Totality is a dual-path overdrive for guitar and bass, designed with Slipknot's Alessandro Venturella. KHDK describes it as delivering "the VMan's signature powerful and aggressive sound, perfect for metal and rock playing and fast riffing". It is a limited edition of 250 pieces, listed at $249.99 USD1.
How the dual-path circuit works
The Totality's defining feature is its dual-path input. KHDK explains that "your signal is split into two paths, with controls GAIN, TONE, BASS and TREBLE along the way"1. Instead of one series control layout, the pedal shapes the driven path and lets you set how much of it you hear against your clean signal.
Controls
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| GAIN, TONE, BASS, TREBLE | Placed along the split signal path1 |
| Overdrive volume fader | Sets the volume of the overdriven signal1 |
| Direct volume fader | Sets the volume of the direct signal1 |
| Mid switch | Tuned to Alessandro Venturella's preferences1 |
KHDK presents the separate overdriven and direct volume faders as what makes the pedal "the perfect tool for your guitar"1, and the mid switch as the route to what the company calls "that sweet, sweet heavy as fuck Sicilian Vill[ain] sound"1.
Design and build
The limited series' enclosure design was created by Luke Preece, described by KHDK as "a renowned artist known for his esoteric heavy metal iconography"1. Like other KHDK limited editions, the pedal is built entirely in the company's Prague Custom Shop, where each piece is personally guitar-tested, and KHDK describes it as proudly made in the EU1.
The Totality is a limited edition of 250 pieces1. KHDK also notes that orders to North America might have import fees collected by customs or the carrier, which are not controlled or included in the company's pricing1.
The Totality among KHDK's signature pedals
The Totality follows a line of KHDK artist collaborations, each a limited run built around a player's sound. Others include the KHDK Paranormal with Gary Holt, the KHDK LCFR: Various colors with Behemoth's Nergal, the KHDK Ascendancy with Trivium's Matt Heafy and Corey Beaulieu, and the KHDK Gojira Drive with Gojira's Joe Duplantier.
