The Klowra Hane Filter is a digital auto-wah and envelope filter pedal in a 1590A-style enclosure, the smallest common pedal box size. Klowra launched it on 10 June 2026 as the first pedal in its Budding Bloom Mini Digital Series, at a MAP/RRP of $129.991. It sits in the filter pedal family alongside wah pedals, but instead of a rocking treadle it uses either a repeating LFO sweep or your picking dynamics to move the filter.
An auto-wah, or envelope filter, listens to how hard you play and opens a resonant filter in response: pick harder and the filter sweeps up, play softly and it closes down. The Hane Filter does this in the digital domain, with 24-bit AD/DA conversion, 32-bit floating-point DSP, and a 44.1 kHz sample rate1.
The controls and modes
The pedal has four knobs and a mode selector. The mode is color-coded: WHITE for LFO Mode, BLUE for Envelope Mode, and YELLOW for LFO + Envelope, which combines the two1.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Freq | Center frequency of the filter, lower to higher1 |
| Res | Resonant peak of the filter1 |
| Drive | Saturation into the filter1 |
| Rate / Attack | Rate for the LFO, or Attack for the envelope, depending on mode1 |
The three modes cover the two classic ways to drive a filter. In LFO Mode the filter sweeps back and forth on a repeating cycle, like a slow automatic wah. In Envelope Mode it responds to your attack, the classic funk envelope follower. LFO + Envelope Mode layers both movements on top of each other1.
The main footswitch does more than bypass. Holding it changes behavior by mode: in LFO Mode it taps the rate tempo, in Envelope Mode it reverses the direction of the sweep, and in LFO + Envelope Mode it ramps the rate up1. So the pedal does have tap tempo, but only in the LFO-based modes, and only through the hold function rather than a dedicated switch.
Guitar Pedal X's Stefan Karlsson tested the factory presets and described what each mode can do. Of Preset 1, "Almost-Trem" in LFO Mode, he wrote1:
"sounds really like a warm and classic softly fluttering kinda sorta tremolo really"
That points at one of the pedal's side effects: with the resonance low and the sweep gentle, an LFO filter can read as a tremolo-adjacent shimmer rather than an obvious wah. At the other extreme, Preset 3 in LFO + Envelope Mode with the resonant peak maxed produces what he called1:
"a kind of Jew-Harp / Twangy Kazoo style major Resontant squelch"
In between sits Preset 2, "Wobbly-Wah" in Envelope Mode, which he found delivers the funky filter-cutoff wah sounds the effect type is known for, and which he found especially funky on the high-pass setting1.
On dialing it in generally, his verdict was mixed but positive:
Stefan Karlsson of Guitar Pedal X found the Hane generally pretty easy to dial in, with killer tones available in each mode, though he wasn't always sure he had landed in the most appropriate settings1.
Power and connections
The Hane Filter runs on a 9V DC center negative power supply, drawing 150mA1. That draw is on the higher side for a mini-format pedal, in the range where a small isolated output is more comfortable than a low-current daisy chain, and the spec calls for a power supply rather than a battery.
The Hane Filter is mono only: one TS input, one TS output, no stereo handling. If your board is stereo, this pedal will collapse that path.
Connections and control options:
- 1 x 1/4" TS instrument input, 500k Ohm input impedance1
- 1 x 1/4" TS instrument output, 100 Ohm output impedance1
- CTRL / Remote In jack that accepts a TS momentary footswitch for external control1
- USB-C port for firmware updates1
The external footswitch option means the hold functions, tap tempo, sweep reversal and rate ramp, can be triggered from a remote switch placed anywhere on your board, useful given the pedal's small footprint1.
In the box you get a 3.5mm TS male to 1/4" TS female audio adapter cable, an exclusive sticker, a quick start guide, safety instructions, and a product catalog1.
Where it came from and where to get it
Klowra introduced the Hane Filter on 10 June 2026 as the first pedal out of the gate for its new Budding Bloom Mini Digital Series, a line of compact digital pedals1. The pedal is sold direct from Klowra and via Amazon.com, and is increasingly available at select international dealers1.

Questions
Is the Klowra Hane Filter true bypass or buffered?
It is switchable between the two. The bypass mode can be set to either True Bypass or Buffered Bypass, so you can choose whether the pedal's circuit is fully out of the signal path when off, or kept in line as a buffer.
Does the Hane Filter have tap tempo?
Yes, in LFO Mode. Holding the footswitch taps the rate tempo in LFO Mode. In Envelope Mode the same hold reverses the direction of the sweep, and in LFO + Envelope Mode it ramps the rate up.
Can you update the Hane Filter firmware?
Yes. The pedal has a USB-C hardware interface that Klowra lists as being for updates, so firmware can be refreshed over USB-C rather than needing a chip swap or a separate programmer.
Is the Klowra Hane Filter stereo?
No. It is a TS / mono edition with one 1/4 inch TS instrument input and one 1/4 inch TS instrument output. There is no stereo handling on this pedal.
Can I use an external footswitch with the Hane Filter?
Yes. The CTRL / Remote In jack accepts a TS momentary footswitch for external control, so you can trigger the same hold functions as the built-in footswitch from a remote switch.
